Biographical Data

 

Frances G. Carrero Aponte was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 1968. As a child I loved drawing, took courses in design and technical drawing, in primary and secondary. Her parents José A. Aponte and  Elsie Aponte Carrero bring supported  to her to continue studying art career despite oppose it, so continued her studies until college.

 

In 1987 she was admitted to the Art Department of the Interamerican University of San German. Who provides the courses first drawing is the distinguished Ceramist Ivette Cabrera, Frances encouraging forward to the challenge of the Arts. The following year she showed her portfolio to the Admissions Committee of the School of Plastic Arts of Puerto Rican Culture, being admitted immediately that summer. In the school of arts among her teachers was Mr. Ismael Dieppa, Julio Suarez, Domingo Garcia and Isabel Vazquez, among others. Frances in her artistic development is influenced to such an extent that his mature art with such force that her daring to make highly political issues of social until the sarcasm.

 

When Frances graduated in 1994, became a graphic artist with courses in the Outreach Program of the School of Visual Arts, where some of his work was awarded by the institution as the best logo for the jury who at the time were Graph's the agency's one of the best advertising agencies in Puerto Rico. Also she worked in different labeling and advertising agencies. She highlighted working for several years as an art teacher in schools and summer camps with a provisional license from the Department of Education.
 

In 2002 the arrival in the northwest, where she becomes a member of AmeriCorps * VISTA in the municipality of Aguadilla. In this area is characterized by educating disadvantaged youth to improve their quality of life in the renewal of their environment through mural painting and art.During this period, thanks to the murals, the Municipality of Aguadilla receives a federal award as one of the most successful projects for the community, becomes the adopted daughter of Aguadilla, she created the logo for Las Cascadas Water Park and Recreation Sports. In the following years, establishing the Community Arts Workshop The Department of Recreation and Sports Aguadilla. Through these workshops were provided to less advantaged communities of free art classes, the same were offered to children, youth and adults. These courses are supplemented with historical anthropological principles of Puerto Rico.

 

In 2004, the agency gives Frances is responsible for elaborating the 6th Art Contest Sports and Recreation, called Images of Poetry Negroid where for the first time this year is an integrated Talent Show contest drawing to creating an event that is special live performance at the Plaza San Antonio Public town of the municipality, the event was simultaneously retransmitted radio station WABA local town of Aguadilla. Due to the success of Frances drawing classes was transferred to the Federal Weed and Seed program to deliver the workshops in drawing the people participating in arts events collaborating closely with the agency. The 2005 is the maximum quantity of time that is given to a member VISTA volunteer in place in the community.

In 2008 invited to participate in simple event called the Bronx Latin American Biennial 2008, which exposes two pencil drawings and receive the congratulations of the Mayor of New York. In 2009 Frances is so successful offering their workshops she had the opportunity to work for the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture in (Expressing yourself to every corner) Expressarte a todo rincon for communities of Isabella, by the municipality succeeds in making an exhibition of students who came in a report the news of the western area. Currently, she serves as an artist "freelance" in drawing, painting and designer is also craft workshops in mask, paper mache and graphic art.
